This evening at 16:58 sundown, Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, will beginn in Jerusalem, ending tomorrow at 18:12. During this time, nobody will eat nor dring, but will pray. The whole traffic is at a stand still, also the international airport is closed and will only resume traffic on Saturday, at 21:30. All shops and restaurants are closed, no radio nor television will be airing. There will be only some permanent words on the screens, desiring for all citizens to be written well in the Book of Life by God. So the editorial of Israel Today (left, German version, translated) wishes atonement with God and a blessed new year for all its readers.

Prayer - a wonderfully powerful tool to communicate with God! There are so many different ways we can pray. One of them are the Psalms that we can draw on. Either consciously, because certain verses explain exactly what we have on our mind and heart, things we couldn't express better than a certain Psalm can. Or purposefully, like Jesus did so often, ultimately at the cross itself. In our todays' article, Polly Gwinn teaches about exactly this, using the Lord's Prayer as a fantastic example of how to draw on Psalms.

Theoretically, I guess we are all aware of the variety of possibilities that God disposes of, yet in reality, we so often don't consider this very much... We concentrate on what God has given us in the past and dwell on it and don't realize that like this we are hindering ourselves in receiving the new that God wants to give us now. Persecution in India is getting worse every day. Pastor Paul Ciniraj of Salem Voice Ministries (check out our Ministries'-link) has sent a harrowing report on a converted Muslim who was being locked up in a cellar for 17 days. But as a result of it, his wife now also converted! Now both are living in hiding after Pastor Paul could help free him. A great reason to give thanks to our good Lord and Savior yet at the same time, a big prayer request...

This seems to be the last information on the Maputo explosions. Praise God there were no more explosions. Read the last entries on Iris Ministries' administrative site, especially the report of 21 year old missionary Anna from Ohio. It is simply remarkable. There are also photos from the explosions, God really was backing the ministry up. The eleven missing kids are all safely back and also staff living outside the mission area has not been hurt at all. This is all a very big miracle if we think of the damage that happened there plus the injuries and dead. All praise and honor belong to our God alone!

We have received a first reaction to our last month's call to sending us your faith testimonies! As to her own words, Carmen Hirschl went through life without feelings nor emotions. But God gave her a new heart and showed her what emothions are. I think these are experiences several people can relate to somehow and which can entail broken lives.
