My name is Luís Carlos. I came to Mercy Mission in February 2004, together with my sister Yuli.
We used to live on the country side and we were all well. We always had enough to eat. But one day, when I was away from home together with my mom and some others of the family, we were suddenly stopped by some guys and they shot my mom dead, right in front of my eyes. They were rebels controlling the area we were living in. They killed my mom because she would not allow them to take us kids away with them. Together with our dad, we had to flee to the city, before worse things would happen.
Yet my dad found only small help-out jobs and did not earn enough money to pay for the rent and one day, they threw us out the little appartment. We then slept in a telephone cabin. One of Angelika's staff members found us there and took us to stay at some facilities. We are visiting our dad regularly. He now has another woman, but she does not like us. We miss our mom tremendously. Sometimes, I get very angry and sad, because they ruined our family.
I love attending school because I learn new things each day. And I love playing football (soccer).
I already have a sponsor who provides for my schooling. But I'm still in need of ...
I'd be so happy for another one or two sponsors.
