back

Asif came back this morning (October 18, '05) from this city called Balakot. It's about 90 km away from Isalamabad (some 55 miles). He found the area totally flat.... 75% of its residents have died and the rest are without shelter so far. The hospitals are crowded, yet more and more people coming in. It cost Asif efforts not to weep the whole time...

God is leading him to people like army staff and doctors who are supportive to help in whatever is needed, also security. He is meeting with medical staff and local church leaders to see how they can reach out with aid and post trauma re-hab. Asif himself will buy 2 surgical dressing tables for a mobile clinic he visited. Staff is need there urgently and also more surgical furniture.

Morning Star is helping in the distribution of the most needed items like tents, food, blankets. Yet much more is needed. They are also searching for more team members urgently. Would you consider this being something for you? Pray about it and if so, then please contact Morning Star Development then!

Asif will return to that area tomorrow again. He took some photos that I'm uploading here. Warning - some are really distressing....

Nothing is standing anymore...

Makeshift shelter...

Traumatized children...

These 2 pictures speak for themselves...

Almost everywhere it looks like this...

Some of the pastores with who Asif is talking about trauma re-habs

He secures ways toward the needy

For such tents, next to other things, finances are still being needed...
