Today 16-year-old Jamila Noma of the Nigerian Bauchi-State was arrested two years ago and put before the Sharia Court. The young girl had converted to Christianity shortly before. Her father disapproved of her religion change and wants her to marry a muslim man by force. In the court room, the young girl protested, "If you want me to marry a muslim man just because of my decision to become a Christian, I'd rather have you kill me."

After several attempts of her husband-to-be to rape her, she managed to escape and hide. The verdict of the Sharia court is still outstanding to this date. Since the Sharia has been introduced in the Federal State of Bauchi in the year 2001, an increasing number of Christian girls has fallen victim of such forced marriages and other discriminations.
