Hermes was born August 12, 1992.

He does not like shoes...

... and he can be quite silly at times

Discipline still causes him some difficulties; he rejects almost every authority. But he is intelligent.

Hermes likes sports ... and he likes playing.

Also if it is difficult to see it here on this photo - but he mistrusts young people and men. His words can be very offending, which reflects his inner state.

Hermes came to Mercy Mission when he was 11 years of age. All of his life reflects brutality and mistrust. When being frustrated, he chose to stay on the street as a "hiding place". He is from the port city of Barranquilla. His mother was very ill, when his grandfather took him to live with him. Yet he was a thief and very brutal. He misused Hermes by pushing him through open windows, so he could open the doors from inside and his grandfather then would steal things. The day, Hermes did not want to be misused for this any longer, his grandfather beat him with the cable of an electric iron. You can see the scars even today. So Hermes ran away, because he didn't cope any longer. He hid in the trunk of a bus and came to Bogotá like this. When he became hungery, he tried to steal something, yet he was caught by the police and brought to a state institution. Every attempt to try and find the whereabouts of his family failed.

Hermes did not like it there at that institution. He ran away several times before he came to stay with us. Today, in 2006, we can say that we achieved for him to feel at home. He even accepts his new leader Teresa as his mom. He is still showing much of the behavior of a street kid. Yet his brutality has decreased and he never ever wants to go back to live on the streets, as he says. Several times, we would have almost given him away again, because we did not know what to do with him. He is very intelligent and likes sports. There are only 3 people in his life who he loves and accepts; these are Teresa, Juán and Angelika. He lets everyone else know that he does not like them and will not obey them.

Hermes is in dire need of healing in his soul. This is why he urgently needs a lot of prayer.
