Angélica María Romero Macias
(with blue T-Shirt)

She travelled to Germany together with Angelika (!!)
last summer 2006, talking about Mercy Mission.

Angélica was born January 17, 1987 in Bucaramanga.

Angélica and others at a Bible study.

She loves her sisters ... here with Yeimi...

... and is always good for a joke!

Angélica came to Mercy Mission in the year 2000. Let's listen to her story:

My mom was having relations with one of her cousins and I was born. Being pregnant, she was thrown out of her home and I have never got to know my real dad. Moma was working very hard and she brought me up alone, although she had never learned anything. Eventually, she got to know my step-dad and they married. We relocated to Puente Pietro en Funza. There, they had 3 more kids. My step-dad loved me, he was the best dad in the world. But all this chitchat... The problems and my mom have spoiled everythings. And then, when she wanted to get seperated from my step-dad, he hit her so badly with his fist that she died.

Her family never came for me, so my stepdad's family took me back to Bucaramanga where I went to school. But I kind of freaked out and began to smoke and drink. When I was 7, my aunts and uncles started worrying and sent me to Bogotá to live with another sister of my stepdad's. When I became more female by the time, my uncle tried several times to rape me. As if that wasn't enough, my aunt mistreated me badly. With 13 years of age, I wans't able to study any longer, I was stinking of laundry, kitchen and more. My uncle warned me saying that he would rape when I was 15.

I got to know a missionary who preached to us and told me that God was the solution. I did not believe him. But by the time I told him everything, he was aware of things and offered his help. There was another aunt living close by. She talked to him and together they leveraged my escape. One morning, I slipped out of the house and this missionary took me to his home. In those days, he and his church members helped me with clothings and other needed stuff. Later, they looked for a job for me, but found nothing. After several months, they brought me here to this establishment, where I was accepted. That was in May 2000.

I have a vision: I want to prepare myself in order to one day open a school for poor kids, in cooperation with Mercy Mission.

And Angelika Walker adds: A rebellious girl with a lot of hurtings Angélica was healed with God's help and helps us a lot in our ministry. She is a strong personality with a big talent for leadership. And she is an excellent dancer.
