There are many different kinds of missionary ministries and each one of them is the same as important. They all build upon human encounter, relationships, help, aid and so on. Often they require (big) endeavor and commitment in time, patience, sensitivity and more. And what is particularly important, are big and loving hearts. All of this you can find here at Mercy Mission - a ministry established by German Angelika Walker in 1994!

WAYS OF LIFE offers a platform to this ministry. Check it out - you'll see how it was established and what has been accomplished so far. You'll read about joy and hurting likewise: first, you'll be seeing many happy kids' faces. But taking a closer look, you will realize harrowing details. Hardly anybody can imagine what they had to go through in their young lives. Often, it is not "just" poverty driving them onto the streets, but the same as often it's the results of a decades long civil war in Colombia plus violence and brutality in many families.

Thus, these kids are in dire need of a lot of prayer, as does this ministry of course. In every aspect. For very often, it is not at all easy to subdue these former gamines, as street kids are being called in Colombia. They are used to a kind of liberty that does not deliver them from their misery but puts them in additional bondages destroying them. Getting this across to them requires a lot of patience, sensitivity and other attributes and at the same time, a necessary determination, strictness and nerves, more than we can imagine.

Because of a variety of different reasons, their souls are excessively hurting. In part, the streets were kind of a refuge to them because of the brutal violence and sexual abuse they had been exposed to. Yet on a different level, the streets added to this hurting. - Other kids had to watch their parents being killed by the guerillas and could flee. Thus, prayer ist one of the most important aid for them at all and this is why I am asking you to take these kids into your prayer lists - also, please take them into your prayer groups! Under Our Fosterlings we introduce you to many of those kids. You'll learn about their often cruel destinies and about how they are blooming now again.
